Phnom Kulen is a mountain range, located about 50 km from Seam Reap. This mountain considered a holy mountain in Cambodia. Many Buddists come to the mountain in pilgrimage.

Near the mountain is Preah Ang Thom, a 16th century Buddist monastry with the country´s largest giant recling Budda.

Phnom Kulen as has a mayor symbolic importance for Cambodians as the birthplace of the ancientKhmer Empire, for it was Phnom Kulen that King Yayavarma II proclaimend independence from Java in 804 CE (www.wikipedia.org)
