Fall In Love With The City Of L’Aquila!
The magnificent city of L’Aquila in the region of Abruzzo is a perfect place to visit on your Italian vacation! The name literally translates as ‘The Eagle’ and like the bird; the city represents great strength and power in its rich heritage and beauty. L’Aquila is the capital city of Abruzzo and sits on a hill overlooking the surrounding Valley of the Aterno River.
This magical location is further encased by the majestic Apennines which paint a pretty picture in winter with its snow covered peaks.
A place of interest here is the Roman remains of Rocca Calascio (in the picture) which stands proudly high up in the mountains. It’s the highest castle in Italy and one of the highest in Europe!
