Come and see the city of Catanzaro in the region of Calabria! This is a seaside paradise with lots of nearby towns and villages to explore also! Catanzaro overlooks the Gulf of Squillace in the Ionian Sea.
This popular tourist holiday resort touches the coast and stretches far up into the mountains to a height of six hundred metres! The historical city centre sits halfway up, overlooking the glittering sea at a height of approximately three hundred metres.
Within the city itself, why not spend few hours exploring the many interesting churches, museums and shops that are tucked within the intricate narrow streets and around the main squares.
The cathedral(in the picture) was built here in 1121, it had a beautiful Renaissance facade which was later added in the 16th century but was badly destroyed during World War II. It has been faithfully rebuilt, encompassing much of the original design.
