DON’T GET THE ROCK ANGRY!

DON’T GET THE ROCK ANGRY!

If you visit that wondrous place called Uluru, it’s not a good idea to souvenir any bits of the rock. Taking away even a gravel-sized shard of stone can anger this ‘sleeping giant’ of the desert. So they say. In any case, the ranger office there regularly receives rocks in the post from people who’ve taken away a piece of stone – and then met with bad luck. Sometimes VERY bad luck…

My upcoming novel SORRY TIME has a vein of Aboriginal spirituality running through it as bad luck appears to bedevil a man who removed a rock from another sacred desert site. Look out for SORRY TIME at your book store or online from early 2017. Meanwhile, you can check out this YouTube clip showing a research trip I took to central Australia for SORRY TIME: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc2fdwjw1Go

And here’s a story from the UK Daily Telegraph about the ‘bad luck’ stones of Uluru: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/1948843/Uluru-Tourists-return-stones-to-cursed-Ayers-Rock.html
